Georgia Residents
“The more we can do for recreational fishing in our state, the more money will be spent here!”
“One would only need to look at the numbers to fully understand the economic impact fresh and saltwater fishing has in our state. Fishing provides a great source of revenue for the state with income to hotels, motels, fishing licenses, bait and tackle outfitters and self employed professional fishing guides. It provides great family fun and memories to last a lifetime. Once a resource is gone it’s gone forever!!! You can try years down the road to mitigate the damages of a lost resource but it can NEVER be made whole again. I respectfully request you to pass this legislation. Thank you for your careful consideration.”
“It’s about time Georgia joins the other states giving gamefish status to the Red Drum.”
“Please protect a resource that is far more valuable as a recreational target than a commercial commodity. Most of the other relevant states recognized this fact years ago. Georgia should do so now.”
“This is something that needed to be done years ago.”

“My husband loves to travel to GA to sight fish for redfish. He says the natural beauty and fishing are incredible!”
“In my view, this initiative makes not only good sense from a conservation perspective, but also from an economic perspective for the state of Georgia and its businesses... e.g., hotels, gas stations, restaurants, fishing guides and tackle suppliers. I travel and spend a fair amount of money to pursue my sport of fishing. I go to places where the fishing is good. The better the fishing is, the more I visit. Georgia will get more of my money by protecting and enhancing the redfishing in the state. “
“Yes redfish should be given game fish status… it is the STATE SALTWATER FISH after all!”
